Help with camshaft seal installation on 740 700 700 1988

When you wipe down the Cam Seal area of the Head. is it all shiny Aluminum to indicate it's all one big piece of Head and not Head with another metal ring n the Seal hole. You should be able to almost push the seal in with your fingers.
