Almonds and dog treats in air breather box 200 1991

Well, I've had some issues lately with the car, the latest being rough idle and
check engine light on. We took it to our mechanic who found a code for the O2 sensor and replaced it. Pretty much ran the same and we've spent 1100- on the car in the few weeks (starter, O2 sensor, and fuel pump) and I no longer trust him due to a lie I caught him in so I took the car home to troubleshoot myself.
That's when I discovered the air box mess. The air filter was a mess and falling apart as well. Not sure if this will make a difference but it's certainly something that needed to be dealt with.
Time will tell I guess.

Thanks, Kirk S.
