Found my vacuum leak, but now sure why more things were affected......... 200 1986

Paul,


Because the intake manifold vacuum will "suck" more fuel out of the injectors at partial loads and idle when the intake vacuum is high, the fuel pressure regualtor compensates by reducing the fuel pressure so that the correct amount is actually injected.

Without the vacuum hose attached, the fuel pressure is not reduced, and the engine will run richly at partial load or idle conditions.
