hello victor,
i believe the extra parts go to the 740/940 linkage. i bought the kit and asked also, 2< years ago. i still have the spare 740/940 parts, and now i have a 940. glad i kept the parts.

here's an exploded diagram of the tranny shifter from a volvo dealer
