86 Brake Line Junction leak 200 1986

Hello BBer's

This is one of those questions where I think I have read posts, but the search function came up with little to nothing. So forgive me if the is one of those posts that you see over and over.

Had to stab the brake petal hard on Friday afternoon and the Brake Failure light came and stayed on. Did not get Inga in the garage and on the jack stands until last night. Inga is a 1986 245DL with 290K. She has working brakes, but the Failure light is still brightly light up.

I did recently replace the left rear caliper a few weeks back, it was leaking from a caliper. Started there and did not see anything amiss. Decided to flush the brake fluid and inspect the rest of the pads and look for leaks. Other than brown fluid and finding that all the dust caps are missing, found that the pads and rotors are all good. The only place that had an issue was the Brake Line Junction AKA the octopus. There is a fluid leak from someplace on the block so I cleaned it all off really well. Then I pulled out my 11mm flare wrench (thanks for that info) and made sure all the lines that had fluid on them were snug. There was one that turned a bit.

I suspect the issue with both the leak and that Brake Failure light being on is the switch, a few years ago my pro replaced that same part for the same problem. I am more inclined to do the work myself now thanks to the BB.

Question is, is there a way to replace or rebuild the switch without having to replace the entire Junction Block? If yes, were do you get the parts? Any other sage advice? Just found the one on the FCP Website after posting the question. Anyone had any experience with installing it?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Paul
