ANSWER altenator 200 1990

First question first--the oil seal could get damaged on installation or have been installed incorrectly--the metal on which it rides could be worn/scored--it may not have been the source (or only source) of a leak (see question 2). Second question--the wire is probably for the oil pressure light switch located behind the alternator. Is your dash lamp working properly? The oil switch can leak--and is in the general area of the front of the motor. -- Dave
