I got a lot of the bang for about 1/9'th the bucks with my RX-7 caliper/960 rotor upgrade.
Adapter brackets
Adapter brake lines
Got a couple of rebuilt RX-7 calipers from Rockauto, and a couple of 960 brake rotors. Had to drill out the lug holes on the rotors, 240's have chunky based lugs. Other than that, a bolt on installation.

Now I'll freely admit that half the motivation for this upgrade was cosmetic. I have some 17" wheels on my car, with a fairly open style:

And the stock brakes simply looks lost in all the space in there. But I'd had the stock brakes heat up enough to work a little differently (slight fade) at the 1/4 mile strip before, getting up over 100 mph, then stopping a little abruptly to make the first turn off. Not really a justification for an upgrade (just coast and make the 2nd, or 3rd turn off!), but the new brakes can handle that with ease.
And the larger diameter rotors and chunky alu caliper looks nice too. *bling*
