it's the way the system's designed, no changing it. bosch has always used batch fired systems. if you could scope the injectors and the ignition at the same time, you'd see the injectors open many times for milliseconds during 1 revolution. it's much more efficient than throttle body. the ecu isn't smart enough to be able to count injectors, so compensation isn't possible. you want a smarter system, buy a 98 or any later car with obd2. most but not all are timed injection to the intake, like you want.
just because you have no codes, doesn't mean you do or don't have a problem. could be simple ignition items like wrong plugs or old wires, cap, stuck thermostat, etc. a tired coil would give poor mileage and not set a light, the car's not that smart. and this assumes the light works, i can't tell, the light here sucks. good luck, chuck.
