typical for any kjet injector to be nasty looking. it's blowby and other combustion by-products that latch on to it. they are in the intaqke port of the head, not the actual cylinder.

are they steel? if so, they ARE original. bosch went to brass in the early 80s. you replace them, you' be suprised at the difference in performance, etc. just because they're new. i like to replace at 100k, but rarely see them, except on the later mercedes and ferraris. good luck, chuck.
