re: 87 245 auto - welding floor pan/outside set up 200 1987

"Q3. Is this good enough for this type of welding? HFT 90 Amp Flux Wire Welder Chicago Electric Welding Systems - item#68887"

Try some welding on sheet metal with it. Anything from 18 ga to 1/16". I find 14" a lot easier with a splattermatic than thinner material. You will have to play with temp and speed for a while until you get is right...then figure out how to do the same thing upside down.

Best improvement we ever made to to our no-name welder was good wire from Hobart. A skilled welder (not me) built a whole 8'x16' trailer with it but the same guy screwed up firewall fill panel on our LeMons race car...burned 1/4" holes all around the sides...had to make a new patch a 1/2" bigger all the way around. A little better dialing in and he did the second one right.

Remember to skip around with sheet metal. A tack here, at tack there...not spending much time in any one place or you will quickly warp the panel.
