Well, this project has stalled long enough. I crawled back under the chassis to restart the restoration.
Here's where I am right now:
The brakes are finished except for one final bleeding.
The fuel tank was completely restored inside and out, including the sender unit.
I have a new fan belt and radiator hoses on the way.
I have a new battery waiting to go in.
I'm waiting on a replacement key blank so I can get a new key cut, as the old one snapped off in the ignition. I got the broken piece out, I just hope the locksmith can make a new one off of it.
My plan is to do the following: put the new battery in and turn the key to ACC. Make sure the fuel sender is working properly and screw it down completely.
Throw in a couple of gallons of gas and turn the key to RUN. Hopefully the fuel pump will work. It's an electric fuel pump that was put in by a P.O. If it pumps fuel up to the front, then I can hook it up through the filter to the carbs.
Then I'll turn the key to Start and see if anything moves.
From that I think I'll know what I need to start working on to get everything running again. I won't be surprised if the carbs need to be completely cleaned out.
I'm excited to be making some progress again. It's been much too long...
