I disagree here, Professor. The rotor's contact is precisely engineered to cover the electronic spark timing range, and one tooth off on the I-shaft represents greater than 9 cam degrees (19 crank degrees) of error. Volvo supplies a plastic plug for the dizzy's slotted hole to prevent adjustment. We've solved other folks' trouble with misfire based on this error. Although it wasn't he case with Joseph's car, it wasn't a bad thought.
