You are in the right place for help that's for sure.
I'd add that you need to know how to be safe when working on cars, especially if you are going to jack it and place it on stands. You need the best equipment for that and some on site instruction. That's real important to keep a 13 year old safe.
Sometimes you don't get a second chance around heavy objects and gasoline.
