Shifter 200 1992

The solenoid has nothing to do with what keeps the shifter in one position or another, except to keep it in Park unless your Key is in position II and foot on the brake.

You probably have a broken piece of the button wedged down there, between the actuator rod and shifter tube. Either way, remove the knob by pulling straight up and remove the shifter cover via the two screws in the rear. Take a good look at what is going on in there and you'll see how the detent which locks the shifter between gears while driving is not electrical in the slightest.
