My take is, clean the IAC. In the later models it's the one-piece kind, it does not come apart. I have used various things, Pblaster, other actual cleaning products, but its good to leave some oil to allow the motor to not seize later.
Do not turn the 'gate' the wrong way, which is easy to misunderstand. When you look in the side opening you see a slot, and imagine that the slot gets wider. No, it turns the other way. work it from the end, see if the gate moves easily.
