re: 87 245 auto - snow tires and crazy HOT weather 200 1987

Hi all,

I have snow tires on my Swedish Baklava. It's going to be in 70 degree in Maryland this weekend. What should I do? Wait until the temp drops to 50, then drive back home? Thank you as always.

re: 87 245 auto - snow tires and crazy HOT weather 200 1987

the problem with running Snows year round is that the rubber componets are designed to work better in icy and/or snowy conditions...and they wear out faster than the "normal" composites.

if you drive them YearRound the tread will wear faster than normal and the Grip in rainy/wet roads will be compromised.

I spun-out with my Mom in the car with ( more scarey---though she laughed) for ME than Her...Kill your mother...leaving the snows on too long.

so If you are driving with snows on the car and it's warm and raining...and don't have your Mother as a passenger. Not a big deal

Merrry merry Christmas to you.

so I looked back at my previous post and I miss pasted one of the links.,,,(I doulbe posted the same link) To understand the Getty Images link, you need this, from Friday's Washington Post.

Beyond Llewyn Davis....by Ann Horaday
In the Coen brothers’ movie “Inside Llewyn Davis,” opening Friday, Oscar Isaac plays a folk singer barely making a living in Greenwich Village in the early ’60s, sleeping on the couches of downtown friends, presumably unaware of a singer from Hibbing, Minn., who has just hit town and will change the world — but not quite yet.

Everything and everyone mentioned in this article was photographed by my late father, Fred W. McDarrah. Three of his images are here, 300,000 more are in my family closets. He'd have been amused.

re: 87 245 auto - snow tires and crazy HOT weather 200 1987

About 20 years ago. I wanted to get some summer life out of my half-worn snow tires. I asked my tire guy (actually his grandson) that I have been using since '63 if I would have any trouble.

He told me that modern radial snow tires do not overheat in the summer and they would hold up even on long highway drives.

Except for the wear, I do not think that you have to worry.

re: 87 245 auto - snow tires and crazy HOT weather 200 1987

I drove my 89 245 out from here in Alaska in early February shod with winter treads AND studs, headed to palm desert for month and half. near 75 degrees
for some of that time.no ill effects save for losing maybe some life off the softer compound winter tread. doubt if you will have problems.
