Pv steering box 444-544

Drivers side 544 tie rod was grafted to the 140 tie rod and the 544 drag link was grafted to the 140. On this one the rods at the point of grafting was over kill for safety as the rods were internally threaded for a threaded plug and then welded at the seam as well as plug welded into the threaded plug. The pitman arm is a 140. Care was taken as to keep the correct steering geometry. The steering column on mine was made up with collapsible shafts to fit a later steering column. A 120 column could be made to fit or if you wanted to maintain the stock look the 544 column could be modified at the point where it attaches to the floor with a bearing and coupler. Then use the collapsible shafts from the 120 or 140. At least one thing is for sure its safer in a head on collision. I will try to get some pictures later. I`m trying to help with aging parents at the moment. Larry
