Glad you asked about dissembling the failed parts. I try to do that whenever I can. Disassembling the TPS was beyond my patience level this afternoon. I tried separating the two sides, but the plastic was brittle and bonded pretty well. I destroyed it in the process.

I faired better with the IAC. Pictures below. I don't know why it failed, but I now have an appreciation for the cost. The unit is build with solid materials. And this one appears to be original. There were obvious failures. However, from the pictures, it seems that some silicon spray may benefit the internal rotations.

Here is the 'gate' that blocks the air. Notice how black the inside is. Also, there is a slight dent in one edge that was there when I disassembled it.



Here's the inside of the aluminum body. The shaft is secured to the body and the parts rotate around it.
