I'll bet the rubber line that runs to that drum is probably old and swelling. As those lines age, they can swell and act sort of like a check valve, meaning once the fluid gets pushed through them (to engage the brakes), they can be slow to release the pressure holding the fluid inside the wheel cylinders.

We offer a stainless steel set of flexible brake hoses for the 544 at IPD that solves this problem for good!
