The new fluid could well have cleaned out some partial blockages in the valve block. I think I might be tempted to do another change to remove anything that is now in suspension. The filters might not pick up all of the "new" dirt.
I had a BW65 (not in a Volvo) that would only change up at max speed on full throttle. That was down to dirt in the valve block. Made for interesting driving in town...........
