Yes, much slack.
Mine does not have the "star-wheel" adjuster, just a notched piece of steel between ends of two pads, and a spring between.
Old pads looked ok, but i had bought new ones.

Cause of CEL appeared to have been a loose connection under glove box -- O2 sensors tested ok, but swapped them out anyway.

No CeL for couple weeks now.
