revisiting old wars- the leaking windshield trick

hi sages- looking for some guidance here on a problem which i dont think ive seen mentioned here on the board. have a92 245 which overall has been a phenomenally good car. only downside is foul hand gestures and mofos (i can lip read) when i take off slow in 1st from the light. here in south fla for weeks we have had torrential nam type monsoons which leave a soaked front passenger floor rug. figure i better do something about it or the floor will rust through. when it rains water trickles in from behind the right front side panel onto the floor. some drips from the top of the windshield and puddles in the depression on top of the dash above the glove box. not as worried about that leak as the floor soaking. approach # 1 is to find a competent auto glazier remove the windshield and replace it with a new one and get a better job on gasketing and sealing the glass. been thinking about safelite and figure $200 for the job. uncle moe says that may not be the problem with the floor soaking which may be caused by rust through on the vents under the cowl vent behind and to the right of the cowl.if that is the problem would probably cost a phat fortune. anybody had experience with this and what to do about it. thanks tons oldduke
