I agree. This stuff is for emergencies where the leak is in the radiator or heater core, not for a hose. The trade-off is clogged tubes. I'm not sure it can be easily flushed, especially as the heater core is involved, but perhaps none got into the heater core yet because the valve is tightly closed for the summer.
Flush, fill, new thermostat, and radiator may restore confidence. Barring the chance one of those coolant loss episodes did not bend the head.
