Steering box replacement or rebuild on a 63 PV544 444-544

Greetings fellow PV enthusiasts !
After a long road trip, my steering box developed a leak. I have the skills to do an R & R, however replacing and properly fitting and reaming the new bushings has me a bit nervous. I'm tempted to find and replace with a remanufactured box, though still no guarantee of no leaks, or do I bite the bullet and give it a whirl myself? How much time to R & R the steering column and repair the box should I anticipate? I think I can get the old one removed and re-installed in under 3 hours, but how long will it take to rebuild the steering box with new replacement seals? Any specific issues I should be looking for once it is removed and on my workbench?

Thanks

Finally got around to removing the Pitman arm and shaft.........took some muscles, but I got it out. Here's a few tips for anyone about to take this project on.
    1. Get and adequate/correct puller first. Pickle forks may cause unnecessary damage.
    2. Be sure to mark the Pitman arm and Box for reassembly purposes.
    2. Removing the nut on the Pitman will take a great deal of leverage.....HINT - use a long breaker bar. Not sure of how much torque was on it, but it took all of my 210Lbs to get it loose. Removing the Tie Rods is not necessary.
    3. Remove the radiator, you won't be able to lift the next item without doing so.
    4. Remove the top 4 bolts on the steering box
    5. Once you've done that, the top of the steering box will lift right out along
    with the shaft.
    6. Be sure to clean everything up and do a thorough inspection of the splines and
all components. I got very lucky and mine were in great shape.
    7. Wash your hands.
    8. Go grab your favorite adult beverage and celebrate your victory in taking this
on by yourself, it's not terribly difficult.

You don't have to rebuild the steering box if all that's wrong is an oil leak.

The PV's only have 1 seal and that's for the pitman shaft and it can be replaced without removing the steering box.

We usually have the pitman shaft seal in stock.

Sounds like the most affordable choice at this point. Couldn't harm anything if it is discovered something more is required. What is the estimated R&R time?

I rebuilt mine just replacing the bottom seal. It was tight enough that new bushings were not necessary.
