Excessive crankcase pressure 700 87

I read all there was in the FAQ section on the oil seperator/flame trap section and checked out the components today. The flame trap was dirty but I could breath through it without effort. The small fitting was cleared and the hose was not plugged. I could see the oil vapor rising into the oil seperator so I can assume that the drain line is unplugged? After checking these things out the oil filler cap is still jiggling like crazy. I must not be seeing something. Does anyone have any ideas. Thanks.

Blair:

This might indicate the need to clean the throttle body. That's the next step after flame trap/hoses.

As David said, the jiggle test can have varying degrees of accuracy. Typically, the metal oil cap is the more accurate one for this (I'm not sure which yours is). But his palm suggestion sounds like a good one.

Best of luck.

Re: Excessive crankcase pressure 700 87

I personally do not like the jiggle test. The car may have more than normal vibration at idle due to worn motor mounts or other factors. Apparently there are plastic and metal caps and I am not sure which ones work for the test. I think a better way is to start car and apply your palm over the oil filler to seal the opening You should feel the slight vacume build up over a few seconds. You will also feel the air entering as you slowly remove your hand breaking the vacume. Of course do this before the engine gets too warm.
