Mushy clutch 200 89

The clutch on my 89 is near the end of the pedal, and needs to be replaced soon. I find the stock clutch really mushy. It slips if you push it too hard. Is there a higher performance clutch for 240s ?

/// I don't know the names of the makers but there are high performance sites that feature heavier than OEM. Try the links section and the advertisers to the Brickboard.

What did you get, 200,000 miles out of it? You wasnt to find a BETTER clutch than that? Good luck. Get a new F and S (Volvo) and you will have the best clutch.

Re: Mushy clutch 200 89

It sounds like your clutch is out of adjustment. If it cannot travel fully, it will slip. On the other hand, if it is out of adjustment and slipping, it will wear out. If you have a leaky rear main seal, it will slip and become roont also.

Look for oil dripping out of the bottom of the bell housing. Adjust the cable (assuming yours is cable actuated and not hydraulic).

If you lead a charmed life, adjustment will cure it. If the universe has your number, you will do a clutch job with a rear seal replacement.

Can't advise on tougher clutches, as the one that came with my car stood up to whatever the teenage driver and I could do to it.
