where to buy oil pressure sender adapters 200 89

I read Stoney's post in the archives about adding the oil pressure gauge to the B230F. I've got the gauge and the sender, but where can I buy the "block adapter" and the "90° offset"? I didn't see them listed on egauges.com.

Re: where to buy oil pressure sender adapters 200 89

I have had the same problem. I got an 5 bar oil gauge out of a 84 turbo but was unable to get the sender. Advice was that VDO senders would work. So I bought the VDO sender that I was told would fit. Turns out that sender I bought (360-006)has a 10mm x 1.0 thread size and the car has a 14mm x 1.25 thread size port. So I also was told to get an adapter. I have hunted everywhere including Autozone and specialty fittings supply houses and no one I can find sells an adapter that goes from 10mm x 1.0 to 14mm x 1.25. So I guess I wasted the money on the sender ($37) and now I will have to get the sender kit from the dealer at $87. The VDO 14mm sender at egauges is about the same cost as the dealer. Let me know if you find a solution. I am finding out that many times it is a lot less headache to go ahead and buy OEM from the dealer.

Re: where to buy oil pressure sender adapters 200 89

this may not be as bad as it seems....michael and bob haire agree that

the port is 14 x 1.5.....better go with that...(seems that metric fine

thread of 1.25 only goes up to 10, above that, fine is 1.5)....

Autobarn has lots of stuff on their site..including...Equus metric adapters

(equus has their own site).....Driveitfx site has lots of adapters, they and egauges also have angle adapters that will do the job for you...

to simplify this, see if you can return the 10 x 1.0 sender in exchage for

maybe a 1/8-27....then go 14x1.5-1/8-27..to a 1/8-27 to 1/8-27 angle adapter...to the sender...or if you've really lost it at this point,

put a tee in it and use the other oil pressure output to vary the

volume of your car audio rig.....

good luck!!!

Correct. B230 block is 14x1.50.

Autozone, a large discount chain, sells Sunpro sender adapter kits for about $5. They are straight fittings. From there you could use hardware store parts to fit the right angle or 45 degree or extension or whatever.

Re: where to buy oil pressure sender adapters 200 89

I put one on my 89 240. I got the sender kit from the dealer, but I don't recommend going there. Its a rip off, but I was in a hurry. In my opinion you don't need the angle adapter. The one that came with my kit is sitting in one of my spare parts boxes. It seemed to make the situation worse. It will thread directly in to the hole with the adapter. It just makes putting the alternator belts more of a challenge, but still possible. The angle adapter is necessary on the B21 turbos, because there is a lot less room in there
