Rough starts in cold? Shakes the whole car! 200 1980

When i start my car in about -20 weather the engine shakes so bad it shakes the whole car. Also i was wondering about another problem i have. When i start my car and have the key to the full on position after turning it over. The windshield wipers and heater and such wont work unless i turn the key back towards the off position a couple of milimeters is this a bad connection in my ignition or what?
thanks ahead of time

The ignition switch is a minor problem. Try spraying a cleaner into the switch to clean it out and lubricate. The system is designed to turn off power to accessories so that all available amperage is used to start the engine. If power to access. stays off then it is sticking a little.

Sounds like it's running on less than 4 cyls when cold, have you done maintenance (plugs) lately? Yes you have an odd connection in your switch.

Have you read the FAQs on coolant temp sensors, if it's related to warming up this is a logical component to look at.
