Hello All:
My son is about to return back to me, our 83 245 to use up in the Northeast for summer driving. However, it needs the strut mounts/bearings that are on top of the strut tower. should I get the cheap ScanTech replacements or bite the bullet and go for the OEM's?

I recently replaced four strut mounts on two cars ('86 & '84 -- same part) using Scan Tech.

With installation I succeeded in knocking loose at least one of the three top bolts from the bearing while trying to force the strut unit under the strut tower. The last 1/2" was too tight, so, I dislodged one bolt on each assembly.

What fun!

Anyhow. after about four months now, I have no problems with the Scan Tech units.

Buy Volvo OEM or Boge. The rest is junk. Not all parts are like this where you really should buy the Volvo part, but the strut mounts definitely lack quality in the aftermarket.
