100K Service 700 1992

Here's my list of 100K service items. If someone notes an omission, please advise.
1. Radiator, all hoses, heater control valve, water pump, thermostat, expansion tank and cap.
2. Drive belts
3. Timing belt and tensioner.
4. Cam, crank, and intermediate seal on front of engine.
5. Flush A/T. I will probably also install a Magnefine filter.
6. Replace differential fluid
7. Replace Fuel Filter

The engine oil and filter is not due yet and all ignition wear items are very new.

I'm trying to simplify my life by doing things while I've got the radiator out that are easier to access with it out. I'm doing this now at ~92K because I believe I've got a small coolant leak and its about to get hot here.

Thanks
Don Tibbetts

Don, if you have a turbo, I'd install a 180degree thermostat. Just a thought.

James
I have a turbo. I was planning on installing an 87C thermostat which is around 189F. What is the benefit of a 180 degree thermostat?
Thanks

100K Service - Thanks a lot 700 1992

Tibbs et al,
Thanks for providing a nice to do list. However you are ruining my plans to watch basketball all weekend. Now I feel guilty that my 105,000 mile 240 is being deprived since I have only done 1/2 of these things! But I did buy the pressure bleeder from IPD, and its still in the box!

Hey pal, that's why I'm doing this stuff now! :) I don't give a steaming crap about basketball but when fall rolls around, the last thing I want to do is be working on cars. Saturdays mean Gator football and every other day that I have to work on a car is one less day that I can hunt.

Enjoy the pressure bleeder. Hey, maybe you can set up a TV out by the car. You only have to see the last two minutes anyway right.

Also check ALL the vacumm lines for age related cracks. Might be a good time to start replacing them.

IPD has a nice kit that includes all the ignition items, also flame trap and an O-2 sensor (I think), and air filter, as well as the other items you mention. As I recall the price was decent.

Are you referring to their 60K tuneup kit? I couldn't find anything on their website that included all the things on my list. Also, I thought B230FT's didn't have flame traps. I'll have to look into that.
Thanks

I believe you are correct about the flame trap, but there is an oil trap that was giving me problems earlier on an 89' 740Turbo. The symptom was that oil was being forced out around the oil filler cap and getting all over the valve cover and engine. After the oil trap and a couple of connecting lines that were clogged were replaced the problem went away. (I replaced the little Y fitting as well, although it isn't a flame trap on the Turbo.)

Thanks Bones. I plan to do these also, but I'll probably wait until I actually get to 100K.
