Exhaust Pipe (header) Bracket 200 1993

Do any of you fellow 'boarders have a spare of the above laying around that you would care to part with? More specifically, it's the bracket (2 piece) that mounts the header pipe to the tranny bellhousing. I only need the lower half, evidently, the PO of my 93 245 decided to remove it to stop the pipe from rattling as the bracket had corroded off of the header pipe instead of repairing/replacing the pipe (dumbass!). Anyway, there are plenty at the PIY yards but the attaching bolt is usually too corroded to get them off. Will buy or trade.
Thanks,
RP

how can you tell the Exhaust Pipe (header) needs replacement 200 1992

powellrb,

if you don't mind me asking, what are the symptoms of a loose header pipe.

I get some vibration which i feel through my gear box and feel a vibration of the car. I was told one month ago that i have a loose header pipe.
do these two things sound related to you?

thanks for your help and i hope you get the help that you need.

cheers,

hisisngen

You get a loud annoying as hell rattle at certain RPMs. The noise may come only in certain gears. It also may not sound off unless the engine is pulling.

On my 1980, the bracket would give out about every five years. On this item I wouldn't bother with junkyard parts. Just shop for the cheapest dealer price.

Someone else will know this: Seems to me there is a dealer in Minnesota that does phone/internet sales and gives (relatively) good prices.

Good luck,

Doug Harvey

"Exactly - 1600 rpm is it on my '93. Alsio, all of the heat shields on the cat will rattle like hell. It will also cause exhaust leaks at the manifold and cat because of the vibration and unsupported weight"

"The attaching brace on the header pipe where the through bolt attaches is what corrodes away, not the bracket I'm looking for. I'm going to replace the header pipe because of this but want to mount it properly."
