Okay, this is for my '92 745T. The burned bulb (bulb out) indicator is always on when in drive. It is not on when the car is in park. I have the back panel removed, thus the third brake light is not conected. All other bulbs are good. The indicator will light in park when I press the brake, as it should.

Any thoughts out there??? At first I thought the reverse switch on the transmission may have been plugged in backwards, but this is not the case.

Hmm.... why only in gear? What else will light this indicator up?

I could never get the bulb indicator in my 765 to go off....I eventually took the bulb out of the dash.

I agree with volvorod85 - I had mine on for about two weeks when I finally could not stand it any more and took the bulb out. I never did find the bulb that was bad.

Try temporarily connecting up your third brake light. If I remember correctly, about 7 years (!) ago I had the back panel off our '88 745 GLE and I had to jury rig a third light to keep the burned out bulb indicator in check.

I mounted a red oval clearance light on a small metal plate and attached it to the frame of the door near the third light location.

Yeah, that happened on my '92 740 after replacing a headlamp, indicator was still on, but disappeared after switching the lights off and back on. Condition seems to have mysteriously corrected itself...
