Engine Cutting Out 900 1997

My 940 2.3 LPT has a problem with the engine cutting out every time the engine revs drop to tickover, the only light that comes on is the exhaust emmision light. The car will immediatly restart and drive perfectly. Its been running perfectly until its last minor service which included a new tailpipe and change the air filter. Any ideas??

I think our friend from the UK is refering to idle speed ... it kills when the engine revs drop to idle speed (tickover). I'd check for cracked ,broken or disconnected vacuum lines first ... that easy and some line(s) may have been inadvertantly broken or disconnected during the tune up process.

1997 940 lpt, I wish I had one of those.

Please elaborate on tickover. (can you spot a trend here?)

More details please: does the engine not maintain idle ("tickover") and drop from 750 rpm down lower until it stalls? Or does it just suddenly stop? Is your throttle body clean?

"revs drop to tickover"

Please translate the above statement to colonial parlance. It seems to be a key to your problem, but I am unfamiliar with the term 'tickover' in this context.

While you are thinking about it... do you know if this car has a Bosch or Regina ignition system?
