Bolts stuck again - good ideas needed!! 700

Removing the turbo and the exhaust manifold. I have two bolts left, the one for the stiffener bracket for the exhaust manifold and one on the oil pipe underneath the turbo. The Haynes manual says to remove that pipe on the block but there is no bolt there, it just goes into the block. I can't just pull it out can I? I can't access the bolt from underneath the car as there is a crossmember in the way.

The stiffener plate one is even worse, I cannot even reach that one and again, no access from underneath as the oil filter is in the way and removing that won't make any difference because the bit the oil pipes from the oil cooler is attached to will still be in the way.

Any ideas, anyone?

George

There isn't a lot of room to work around those bolts as you've seen. Last time I worked up in that area on the bolts, I ended up getting really creative, and using a 12pt box end wrench. ANd I had to take it off the bolt about once per point of the wrench too. I'm pretty sure it's possible, but I recall it not being pretty. (I haven't worked on any Turbos for the better part of a year).

The oil return pipe pulls out of the block. Make sure you order a new O-ring (obviously) except make sure you order two or three of them. It really stinks to break one and not have a spare, when reinstalling it.

You can jsut pull the oil return out of the block!

If you have a Mitsu Turbo and are just working on the center section, you don't need to remove the stiffener plate (if memory serves)...just remove the clamp that holds the two halves of the housing together and you can get the center section out.
