Turbo from different car: will it fit? 700 1989

I found a mitsubishi turbo TD05 from an eclipse. I have a mitsu TD05 in my 740 wagon. Will it or any part of it fit in my car?

The exhaust housing will not fit without modification due to the design of the Volvo manifold. You can machine both surfaces flat, however. The inside parts can be changed. It is not a two hour job to remove a turbo, dismantle it, take apart another turbo, swap the guts, etc. But it can be done if you are determined and have some mechanical skills. You would probably want a rebuild kit, or at least a seal kit. There could be a few other problems, depending on how you go about the job. You might be eliminating your integral CBV, for example. If you use the DSM center section, your Volvo banjo bolts and hard lines may or may not fit; check these.

Thanks. I figured the exhaust would be different. I would probably just want to swap the guts....as long as my housing was in tact. I have some play in the center shaft. A bit too much for my liking. Too much oil blow by, too.

i will start by saying im not sure on this ok...but...

i understand that its not only a matter of fittings...the same model of turbo may have a different mapping (i.e. how it delivers boost) for different motors..sort of like a b230 is kind of different depending on the suffix...

like i say im not sure of this...something i picked up off a turbo site..
