Parts Needed 1800 1971

I'm looking for a pair of inside door handles for a 71-1800E, I belive that all the early 1800's are possible doners. Mine have the tabs that pick up the door release adn lock operations broken off.
Also, does anyone know if there is a conversoin kit for a Ford V-8 and auto trans?
On or off line.
Thanks,
Kurt

Get yourself a copy of Hot Rod magazine from December 1964. They put a Ford 289 in wih an auto. This is the best run down I've seen for this. Also see http://puosu.dna.fi/%7Ekerappo/cars/volvo1800.eng.html. This fellow bought one already done and did a great job discussing the ups and downs of his ownership hence.

As for kits, you must be joking! Not worth it for someone to do all that work to sell 2 or 3 units.

There were some 1800 handles on ebay recently. Not sure when they came
up - they may still be there. Do a search on Volvo 1800 and see what you
get.

The engine compartment in an 1800 is awfully narrow for any kind of V8,
and I suspect you would need major floor surgery to get a Ford automatic
tranny in there also. Note that by switching to auto tranny you eliminate
the possibility of push starting.
