I need a good shop manual. The Bentley publisher (U.K.) has published some Volvo manuals. I have one for my '87 Saab 900 Turbo and it's much better than the Haynes book. Is there a reference source on the net for diagrams and illustrations of the engine compartment, etc. for my '91 740 wagon? P.S. Thanks to "bl" for the help on my posting on June 22.

I don't think Bentley has a manual for the 700's although there is some crossover on the 200 engines and trannys.

A good source for the green books if you are not in a hurry is Ebay.

I have several and buy them as needed.

looking around on ebay a while back i saw a bunch of bently books for sale. prices were about $20 less than other sources i had found. i have a haynes and a bently manual. those, combined with BB resources seems to cover everything i have needed to know thus far. i have a 245, not a 700 series, but i assume that book combo would also work for you.

The Bentley 240 manual covers many of the engines and transmissions for 700 series. A better bet might be the Haynes UK manual for 740/940 cars, supplemented by select Volvo OEM green books as needed. Do buy the Volvo wiring diagram.

Are the Volvo shop manuals (green books) including the wiring diagrams only available thru Volvo dealers or can you provide an online source?

Volvo Shop Manuals come in sections/groupings. So the answer is if you buy the particular electrical section for your car you get the wiring diagrams but if you order just let say suspension you don't get them. There is no one large book covering your whole car. Come on, Volvo wouldn't work this way ;)
