If its the OEM tailpipe it may come off easier than you think. I have done this twice in the past. The volvo pipes/mufflers have slots in the outer piece that help to get the parts apart (you can get it started by prying the pipes apart by bending the slotted part a little. Kind of hard to describe without a diagram, but if you do have the OEM parts you would see what I mean. Cut off the old clamp (unless you are lucky and canget the bolts off, spray on plenty of PBlaster oil or similar, then apply a hammer and chisel to persuade the pipe to come off. I would definitely give it a try before taking it to the muffler shop. Took me about an hour altogether to remove a badly rusted-on tailpipe and replace with a new volvo part. Good luck.
