Idle Speed and CO adjustment. 700 1987

I read the FAQ on adjusting the idle speed and CO level. I just want to make sure that I have the right wires in mind before I go grounding anything. I found a 2-contact connector located on the right, passanger, side which contains both a white/red wire and a white/green wire. It is black, about 5/8" wide, 3/8" thick and 1" long. Are these the correct test wires?

Also there is another 2-pin connector close to the shock tower with one blue wire and one brown wire. This connector body is gray and the pins are round. What is the purpose of this connector?

TIA

Dan

Idle Speed and CO adjustment. 700 1987

I have an 85 740gle nonturbo. I recently cleaned my throttle body and followed the FAQs. First reading of RPM was 900. I ask about the wires, mine are like yours. Someone posted here to short/ground out the white/red. I did, and nothing changed. I could get down to 700RPM, but that was with the adjustment screw turned all the way in. It didnt make sense to me, so looked at my Haynes manual, its specs showed 900 for mine. Grounding the wire didnt do anything. So left it at 900. Can't give you a C0 comment, no testing in this state.
