960 crank gone out? 900

howdy,
so i've kinda been defeated by my cam gear location problem the last 2 weeks or so.
ive got the cams to where they were before i replaced the belt. and turning the crank by hand you can really feel the compression in the cylinders.
but still no start.
now when the car was warmed up and i shut it down and came back it took a second or two of cranking and maybe a tap on the gas pedal.

so could my crank sensor have bitten the dust? any way to test it or get a good look at it?

Is the car running at all? Was there just a change in the timing belt or was there other problems? How many miles on the car? What components were removed in the repair? If the intake manifold was removed was the grounding tang replaced where the wire bundle passes by the engine mount? Like the other post replied, need more info.

no it wont start at all.
just the timing belt cover were removed to get to the timing belt, havent touched anything else.
120,000 miles, ran real rich before i started working on it but the plugs were all in need of replacement

I just changed the belt out of precaution previous owner had it done at 100,000 miles but i didnt see a sticker anywhere plus the belt is like 30 dollars.

I'll check the wiring harness by the intake manifold i just thought of the crank sensor going out and not allowing it to start in class.

If you did not mess with intake manifold then I doubt that the ground wire is the problem. The crank sensor would cause a no start. Check and see if you have spark, and then if there is fuel pressure. If you have either then it most likely will be something else. How cold was it when you made the very first start up attempt after getting everything back together? Could you be experiencing the "lawn mower syndrome"? If you are sure it was running rich before the belt change, then maybe there is quite a build up of carbon on the combustion chambers, this could exaggerate a flood condition. With the carbon soaking up fuel. Are there any codes?
