HELP!!!! NO TURN SIGNALS 200 1986

I let my wife drive my car today and got it back I heard, "oh, your turn signals don't work". Sure enough. I tried the flashers and they work fine. I checked fuse #13 and it too is OK. Looking in my Haynes manual, it show a relay for the turn signals located behind where the cubby hole is behind the right kick panel. Does that sound like the best bet or could it be something more sinister (AKA expensive). I'll be hitting the brick graveyard tomorrow. Also, what years should I be looking for for that relay?

Thanks in advance.... (Oh, and I know better than to let my wife use my car)..

HELP!!!! NO TURN SIGNALS 200 1986

I am very quick to suspect the signal switch with high/low or signal problems...most likely because I have had a couple of them go bad.... Another part I try to keep a spare one on hand.

If the Hazards work, it's not the relay.

My guess is that your switch is bad if the fuse checks out.

Take the steering column cover off and have a look at it.

Maybe see if the brights come one when you pull the switch back.

If the hazards flash, it's not the flasher relay (beside driver's right leg) because the signals use the same relay. And the bulb failure sensor has nothing to do with the signal lights.

I would check fuse 13 again, spin it , take it out and pinch the holders closer together. Maybe even replace it.

HELP!!!! NO TURN SIGNALS 200 1986

Well, the correct answer to this problem was the "spinning of the #13 fuse".
I went to the boneyard yesterday and for a couple of bucks got a replacement relay and turn signal lever switch. I just read this post suggestion to recheck and spin fuse #13....Yeah !!!!!!!! Thanks a million for you help...

check this relay:
sitting in the driver seat, look down towards your right foot, behind the center console of that area there is a black relay (1/2 size of the white FI relay) clipped to a thin metal pillar. pop it open to see if any soldering is cracked or broke.

see if that is your problem. If so, you need to replace it with the same relay or it won't work, same number on top i mean, if you are getting it from the boneyard.

also, check the bulb out relay, big red cyl up under the driver side under dash bolster.

HELP!!!! NO TURN SIGNALS 200 1986

What if the turnsignals work sporadically, and also the emergency lights don't work just the same as the turn signals. I tried spinning the 13 fuse. Sometimes when I turn the wheel the lights will come on. Also when I just put in the key and turn it, they will work for about 5 seconds. The brights will come on still. Everything else works. What could this be? This is something I just noticed.
Thanks
