Where do I get brake caliper pins? 900

Just got off the phone with IPD. They offer a brake hardware kit for 900s without ABS only. Soo, what are my options? I had a bad vibration when braking so I replaced the rotors and pads last summer. Well the vibration returned soon enough. Now I know I need to also repalce the caliper pins. Does any other website offer these for 900s with ABS? My 94 960 has the same Girling brakes as ABS equipped 940s. What to do what to do... Thanks for everybody's help

I've also found out, the hard, costly way, that warped "rear" rotors will transfer their vibration forward (sharing the wealth so to speak) causing the front rotors to warp again, which transfers to the back, which transfers to the front, which transfers to the back, which transfers to the front, which transfers to...I'm sure you got the idea. I ate many a brake rotor before I figured this out, and even with salt, they're not tasty. My accountant asked for my 501(c)3 letter.

Thanks everybody for your advice. I odered the brake harware kit in question. The company (importpartsspec.com) has a return policy so Im not worried. As it stand right now, im replacing the bushings in question with IPD polyurathanes, new Zimmerman rotors and mintex pads. Right now I have Brembo rotors. After 9 months they are severely warped. I have no reason to believe they were the culprit.
Lucid, I'll will definitely let everybody know how this goes. Wish me luck.

If the vibration returned there is a good chance it will happen again unless you replace your control arm bushings. Here is a good picture. http://fcpgroton.com/volvo700900ftsuspension.htm (item 5)

Yes I am replacing those at the same time. I will use IPD poly bushings. But im sure its the brakes. At low speeds like when im about to come to a stop, I can feel the brakes pulsing with each rotation of the wheels. Some times its worst some times its better. But at high speed it shakes the whole car. It makes me hesitant to use the brakes. Not a good feeling.

In my limited 940 experience (1 car, 1 year), it was mainly the strut rod cone bushings—originals at 127,000 and totally shot—that caused my braking vibration.

Yes, same part different name. I didn't want to mention it, but there is a good chance that the rotors will have to be replaced, again.

Yes that looks right. I have that kit at home and it was going to go on this weekend but now I have to work. :^( I bought mine from Swedish Engineering but I'm pretty sure FCP now has the same Volvo kit and I think I've seen it other places on the web too. Maybe eeuroparts.com.

In my case its the bottom pins that are corroded. The driver's side is rusted in solid. It barely moves in and out when hammered and it really won't rotate at all. I just changed the pads a couple months ago and didn't notice that the passenger's side was corroded because it still moves freely but upon closer inspection, it is corroded although not to the level that the driver's side was. I'm planning on taking a dremel to that bore before putting the new pins in to hopefully delay a repeat of this job.

If you don't mind, would you post up when you're done with this with any tips that may be useful or problems that you encounter (like not enough grease in the kit for all four pins).

Also, have you spun your rotors or put a dial indicator on them or anything to physically detect warpage? Mine were clearly warped when I spun them with the wheel off.

Thanks
Don

Chris,

I've only had the 940 about a year, so slider calipers are new to me. My 940 seems to have two different "brackets" (?). The bolt heads are 12mm on one side and 14mm on the other.

I think even the pins are different diameter, and the bracket with the 14mm bolts definitely looks bulkier.

Any shocking revelations? (wink-wink, nudge-nudge)
