No production Volvos use wide band sensors 700 1989

In fact I can only think of one production car that does (the Civic w/ the lean burn engine).

A wideband sensor will be able to inform you of the fuel mixture in a more accurate manner. A normal (narrow band) sensor will only really be able to indicate if the mixture is lean, rich, or spot on.

If you have the Regina FI, it requires a special (non-Bosch) O2 sensor.

Do a search for Titania on this forum for recent discussions on the subject. A Google search will also provide technical info.

The Titanial sensor signal may have flattened peaks ("wide band"?) because it works differently.

"wide band" huh? not exactly sure what you mean by that. The difference between the two is just the addition of a heater, which is why the late ones have three wires instead of just one. It will allow your vehicle to go into closed loop operation faster than a single wire will but once both are warmed up they will cycle at about the same rate, 300 milliseconds or less.

ok the reason i ask is that many after market wide band 02 sensor monitors say they will work with the volvo wide band 02 , so at some point volvo 02's were wide band sensors , i have heard that some had 5 wires, not sure,,don't know that i ever seen one , and i have been working on volvo's for a good long time but mainly on th e older models so from the 950 's up i'm very light on

what i'm working on is an 89 760 turbo system it does not have the crank sensor and has the 3 wire 02, thats just a heat'd 02 , i take it that is the LH 2.2 system

i haven 't realy seen any thing on the max safe stock boost levels
will the system adj for say 14-15 lbs with an upgrade'd fuel pump
is there a performance section to this forum
sorry for all the questions and thanks for the replys

For performance information you should check out www.turbobricks.org. Great place to learn how to get more horsepower. There is one section there that outlines different levels of mods and the associated hp gains. Also gives you an idea of the relative cost.

Please come back here often for maintenance and other general information.

You can always have a second port welded into the down pipe and install a wideband O2 sensor for use with your boost and fuel map controller. Since you are looking for performance it is likely that a low restriction exhaust is in your future. Might be a good idea to have this port installed from the beginning.
