What's going on with my 240 No start-AGAIN??????????? 200 1991

Ok, so I have been having trauma with my 1991 240. I got intermittent check engine lights, but as I said in a previous post I cleared out the memory before I checked the codes. Now heres what has been done. I traced down my no-start problem to a faulty Coolant Temp Sensor. After much frustration with my Bentley manual (did NOT mention that you MUST remove the intake manifold to gain access to the Temp Sensor-Srtike one, then it did not have any detailed info on removing the manifold-Strike two.Strike 3 means I burn it). But I digress...now the problem is -after replacing the coolant temp sensor, the car started up, idled roughly but it did run. I shut it off, and it would re-start but for some reason I decided to put the AMM into limp home mode. After shutting the car off and unplugging the AMM, now the car WOULD NOT START-I pluggd the AMM back in, cleared the ECU memory, and it still will not start. It is still flooding out.I'm back at square one! Also I must mention that after I let it idle I got a check engine light-Eureka! Right? NO! I got a code 1-1-1 No problem detected. What gives? I am totally stuck on this one and I don't know what to troubleshoot now. I did test the speed and throttle sensor with the diagnostic module-checked fine. Please help.........Did I mention that I'm desperate? Thanks yet again for all the help.

Update: 1991 245 No Start 200 1991

Here's an update:
The reason for the no start was the coil was not sending spark due to the coil wire to the distributor not being firmly seated-Duh right? I did get it to start and I have again been redirected via OBD fault code to a fuel injection problem. I will be testing this today so I will post when I get the final solution. I will try to eliminate the idiot factor before I post any future issues. Thanks to all who responded.

What's going on with my 240 No start-AGAIN??????????? 200 1991

I mentioned the crank sensor on the first post of yours, as well as the fuel pressure regulator, which will make it run rich, and will not set a code for itself since it is not a sensor. The crank sensor sometimes sets a code in the ignition system, but as I suggested on my first post, if it is yellow banded and original it is suspect, if it is falling apart it is suspect. Have you replaced your plugs yet?

Chris

When you say, "It's still flooding out" does that mean it's getting gas but no spark? If there is no spark, check the fuses and then see if there is 12 volts at the coil. jp

What's going on with my 240 No start-AGAIN??????????? 200 1991

I will be doing EXTENSIVE checks to the entire ignition system and cleaning /inspecting the IAC today so I'll be able to more accurately describe behavior. Another item of note: I consulted a friend who was a Volvo tech for 5-6yrs and the first thing he mentioned was the Crank Position Sensor. This would describe the conditions I have been experiencing-rough idle and rich running/ no start conditions. I got this info before I checked the post by VOLVOLINA. Thanks for the info. If this is the culprit, I will be sure to post follow-up so that others may benefit from my misfortune. Thanks for the help.

Did you check your crank position sensor?
