Life expectancy on 82 244 GL? 200

looking into an 82 244GL in Nevada. It has about 240k miles and an auto tranny. Air, ..pretty basic car that looks great! how long can I expect this car to last if I buy it?
Thanks in Advance!

Depends all on how the car was taken care of. My 1984 244 has almost 200K on it, but every time I bring it into the shop to get an oil change the engine never ceases to amaze the mechanics. They say they never heard a 240 engine EVER run as good as this one, mind you they're volvo mechanics. So what I'm trying to say is that if the car was well maintained, there isn't a single reason this car could last you for however long you want it to last for. The B231 and B230 engines in my opinion are the best engines ever made.

Too many variables to answer, it all depends on how the car was cared for. Keep in mind 2 main things, '82s all had the bad wiring, if the cars engine harness has not been replaced it will need it soon. Also the engine is not the only place the wiring goes bad, it is just the first place to show up.

The late '82 had a one off injection system that is almost impossible to find parts for. If you have hard metal lines running to the injectors and no wires it is the very reliable K-Jet, wires and rubber lines running from a fuel rail, LH-1, probably not a good investment.

Forever, provided two conditions are met:

1. The car is kept rust-free. If you're in Nevada, you shouldn't have a rust problem. Fix any problems that come up.

2. The proper maintenance is done. Change the oil and filters when needed, and do any other services when they are scheduled to be done. Past the 100K miles mark, things probably get a little more fluid on timing, but make sure do them.

Seriously, you should easily get 500K out of the engine with no major rebuilds necessary. It's normally the body that goes first on these cars.
