Switching 86 to 88+ strut towers for upgrade to seperate hub/rotor? 700 1986

Am planning on buying a set of used strut tower/stub axles taken off an 88+ 740 from a boneyard so that I can install a new hub/axle and seperate rotor on my 86 740.
It has a (badly worn) OEM one piece hub/rotor combo now.
Is this a good upgrade? anybody done it?
thanks for any suggestions.

I don't think you need to change the struts to upgrade the hubs; my '87 has been upgraded with the original struts.
BTW, the tower is part of the unit body.

thanks, McDuck:
I talked to FCPGroton and the upgrade kit for our cars are no longer available. So the only solution is to install the strut tower from an 88+ 740.
I will reuse my calipers, springs and install fresh shock inserts.
KYB...are these better than the personal lubricant?
