If you get under there and don't see the relay, look over on the right side, above the driver's right foot (LHD).

If I recall correctly, my 1984 244 had that relay there, and my 1986 and 1988 240s have the relay on the left side.

Look for a rather fat cylinder with a clip around its middle and a whole herd of wires connected to it.
