85 turbo no start 200

i just checked the compression on the car and cyl one had about 70 psi, and the other three had about 90. this is way too low, isn't it? i have strong spark, good fuel flow, and good air/fuel control. could the low compression be the culprit? would some starter fluid help diagnose anything? i heard it ignites fast and easy and can sometimes indicated different things.

Flooded K-jets can get the oil washed out of the cylinders and rings and be hard to start. I would not place too much faith in those compression numbers unless you have really checked it correctly. What about the t-belt or the fuel relay?

from other threads, i am semi-confident that the relay is working fine. i have bypassed the relay and the pump works just the same as when normal. also, i have checked the amps at the pump during cranking. just fine.

the timing belt is where i will go next, because i read a 740 link about loss of power and then a no start situation, which is what i have, and the people talked about a possible belt jumping tooth occurance. i will check that out next.
