I'm trying to get my son's '71 142 running. It has been out of service for a couple of months while I did some body work and painted it (I did o.k. for my second paint job and being an old fart). It was running, although not as well as I would like when I took it inside. Now I can't get it started.
My observations and actions:
1. There is gas to the carburetors
2. There is good spark to all cylinders
3. I have
a. "rough" set both carbs as the Haynes Manual suggests
b. "rough" set timing (with a light with timing mark at about 10 degrees BTDC)
c. cleaned and re-gapped plugs (actually they didn't need to be set)
d. failed to get it started
I'd really appreciate any suggestions for other things to try.
Thanks a bunch in advance.
