hello all,
prob with ignition timing on '79 242. dist was practically welded to block so had to use hammer and punch to turn it. timing was a bit retarded so i advanced it to within 2deg's factory specs but dist would not turn any further. it *looks* (kind of hard to see) as though the locking bolt has run up against the end of the slot its in so it wont go any further. timing is ok for now but im concerned that i may have to advance timing further after i pull the head and have it machined. also thinking of installing a b-cam and worried that i may not be able to tweak timing once its on if i hit the wall of the slot again. any suggestions? im thinking that the head job might let me retard the timing so the bolt is nearer to the middle of the slot???? is their a way to set the distributor so that the lock bolt is near the middle of the slot? do you have to advance timing after installing a b-cam (i think ive got the t-cam in there)?
thanks for help
